Getting Started

It is time for me to take the stuff you dreamed about and start taking small steps toward geting something going. So here are a couple things that we are going to start.

1. Both McKendree and Germany Hill folks have expressed an interest in staying connected to those who cannot make it to worship. This means visitation. Honestly, I have always considered visitation a community activity; not just the pastor's job. That does not mean I do not visit people, it means, we should all visit people, just to stay connected and show our love.
One idea that arose was team visitation. So if anyone is interested in getting a group together, or joining me, just go for it. Call someone and take a trip to visit someone who could use it.
Another idea was a nursing home ministry. Now, I am unfamiliar with the nursing homes in the area, so if it is on your heart to start or participate in a nursing home service, make that connection.

2. We are going to be very specific in our prayers. All too often we ask God to bless us. What does that mean? How is it you desire to be blessed? Some of us don't even pray very often. In fact, I admitted to Christian a few weeks ago that nothing in my life is as strong as it could be because I have a poor prayer life.
So, over the next few weeks, we will explore prayer in Sunday worship. I admit this is a sermon series designed just for me. It will be too mechanical for some of you, but bear with me. My desire is to have a congregation that has prayer as its strength.

As we start slow, be sure that those dreams you shared are being taken seriously. The Library is being rebuilt. Small group study opportunities are coming.
Keep talking to me.
Take the opportunities to serve.
Seek ways to grow.
Keep dreaming.
