First of all, let me point out I commented on Matthew 7 briefly under the comments in my "I'm going camping" post.
In Matthew 8 I was struck by the example of a willingness to reach out to others, to help out, no matter the cost or social status. In verse 3, Jesus is willing to help a leper...not just help, but he actually touches the guy (a big no-no both religiously and health wise). And then we meet the centurion. He gives a great speach about authority, yet his action is not one of authority. He is actually seeking the help of Jesus on behalf of one of his servants. He understood authority, but did not demand it. His servant was in need, and he himself went and ultimately served his servant. It remnds us not to look down our nose at anyone, because the most in need are the ones Jesus, and the Centurion, were willing to stop everything for.
(I'll post on Matthew 9 by this evening)
Lord, thankyou for giving up so much to take the time to help the neediest. When I was at my neediest, you helped me. May I do the same for those who struggle arround me. Amen.
