I am claiming a promise today! It has been a difficult couple of days, and I feel tired and confused and sad. I realize there is a lot to what is going on here in Matthew, but last night, when I got to the end, all I could remember was, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden light." I'm not sure how to reconcile this with some very tough words from Jesus in the previous passages. And I am not sure how to reconcile an easy yoke with a divisive message. But I know that when I need peace, and rest for my soul, there is only one to whom I can turn.
Lord, I am indeed burdened and weary. I turn to you now. Amen.
