Current Direction

As Pastor Rob stated in the recent newsletter and sermon after being here for a year and trying new things he has decided it is best for McKendree to spend the next year slowing down and making sure we ourselves are spiritually healthy. He stated:

"To strengthen the ministry of the McKendree United Methodist Church I will value:

  • Health Over Growth

  • Quality over Quantity

  • Discipleship over Attendance

Too often we want our churches to grow so we stay busy; doing all the things that ensure more and more people come to worship. Yet in doing so, we get worn thin."

This will mean less meetings in the year to come, smaller committees so that people can focus on one aspect of the church that they'd like to be involved with (vs being forced to serve on several things), evaluating our current ministries to see if they are productive and if so if they are the best they can be.

As part of this new focus he has been preaching weekly on the fruits of the spirit. He's covered Love, Joy, and Peace. This week: Patience. Join us!

(All messages are available on CD in the church library)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
