News from McKendree

We are happy to announce that Pastor Rob Abell was appointed to be our new pastor starting July 1st.

Rob is married to Christian and has two children. He been in pastoral ministry for 6 years. He has been the pastor of the Bentley Springs and Mount Zion United Methodist Churches in Northern Maryland for the past 3 years. He graduated with honors from Wesley Theological Seminary this May. Rob grew up in Warren Center, PA, on the family farm. He enjoys camping, hiking, playing guitar, reading, and just relaxing with a good cup of coffee. He loves “doing” ministry and preaching, and he can’t wait to be a part of a new community where he can live, have fun, and share the love of Jesus Christ with friends and neighbors.

Christian grew up in Endicott New York (maiden name “Santacrose”) and her interests include cooking, photography, playing guitar, coffee, writing letters to friends, and all things creative. She has worked and gone to school just about everywhere! The last four years she has been home with the children but is outgoing and likes to be active in the community. She loves Jesus and longs for all people to know the depth of Christ’s love for them.

Their son is 4 years old and is very outgoing. He loves going to preschool and watching “Sponge Bob Square Pants” on TV. He is creative and somewhat opinionated (like his mother!) He spends his days drawing, building and creating things.

Their daughter is 3 years old and loves books! She’ll disappear into her room and “read” to herself for long periods of time. She likes her space but much like the typical little girl she loves, dolls, pretty dresses and the color pink. She has a way with animals and loves to dance.

Rob, his wife Christian, and their children will be moving in to 216 Owego Rd. (right next to the church) in July and look forward to becoming an active part of the community and church!

We at McKendree United Methodist Church (and our sister church Germany Hill UMC) want to thank the Rev. Alice Hartmann who has served as our pastor for the last 7 years. We wish you well as you move forward with this next phase of your life.
